You will contribute to and support the delivery of a high quality administrative service to the team on a day to day basis and the Head of Service as and when required.
The Council’s Engineering & Transport team are responsible for the delivery of a wide range of services including advice on highway matters, management of the Council’s car parks and the designing and implementing of highway improvement projects.

IMT Operations Engineer

Full time, 37 Hours per Week

This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic, forward thinking IT Shared Service as Operations Engineer, leading on both 2nd/3rd line support and Technical projects.
The Operations Team is part of a shared IT service between Test Valley Borough Council and Winchester City Council. This is a hands on 2nd/3rd line technical support role to deliver high availability IT infrastructure and to ensure continuous service to users by meeting or exceeding the performance indicators, as defined by service level agreements.
You will have extensive technical experience of Microsoft Server, Citrix, VMware, Email (Exchange), Storage and Backup solutions. You will advise on technical solutions and be able to describe and articulate complex ideas for others to learn. You will adhere to ITIL v3 disciplines and have excellent organisational and time management skills requiring minimal supervision.
This is an ideal opportunity for a resourceful and highly skilled individual to join a committed team in a lively environment dedicated to providing high quality services and
able to work under pressure.
Duties include:

  • 2nd/3rd Line Technical Support for any service disruption, formulating recovery plans to return to service.
  • Complete daily, weekly and monthly checks on core infrastructure services including Citrix, VMware, Security updates, Backups, Audits and Testing.
  • Work as Technical project lead on the implementation of new, and upgrade of existing solutions.
  • Raise and implement Requests for Change (RFC’s) and work on specialist projects with internal teams and external contractors.
  • Produce and understand high quality technical documents to provide operational lifecycle support for the complex systems.

You will be expected to work from both Andover and Winchester. Regular travel between these two main sites and minimal travel to other locations will be required.

We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified solicitor or barrister (or someone with equivalent experience) to join a dynamic and forward-thinking authority located in a beautiful part of Hampshire and with excellent employee satisfaction rates.  

The role is based in Andover with free, on-site staff parking and easy access from the A303 or via public transport (London Waterloo is only just over an hour away by train).  Other benefits include a generous holiday allowance,  on-site staff restaurant, subsidised leisure facilities, flexi-time and a defined benefits pension scheme.

The jobholder will be advising and influencing officers at all Council levels, including senior management and elected members, so you’ll need experience of providing complex advice in a political environment, with experience of working within Local Government and an understanding of current public sector challenges. As a senior member of our Legal & Democratic Service team, your role will include:

  • Deputising for the Head of Legal and Democratic Service and act as Deputy Monitoring Officer
  • Responsible for providing legal advice, representation, advocacy and assistance in all areas of law and legal matters arising from the exercise of the Council’s functions
  • Creating, implementing and managing the development and operation of systems and processes for delivery of legal services

Test Valley Borough Council’s Environmental Service provides a range of high quality front line services across the borough.
A vacancy has arisen for the position of waste collection operative working as part of the Council’s Environmental Service team. The position is manually challenging but equally rewarding for enthusiastic and hardworking team players.
Experience of working outdoors in all weathers and dealing with the general public is essential.
A knowledge of waste or cleansing services and of the Test Valley area would be an advantage but not essential.
Some basic literacy skills are desirable for the position.

  • Fulfilling the statutory role of Data Protection Officer for Test Valley Borough Council including the provision of direction and support for senior managers, and ensuring data protection compliance
  • Providing a professional legal service in respect of a wide range of Council contracts, including some high profile/high value contracts, and service level agreements.
  • Supporting the preparation of tender documents through effective liaison with client officers and consultants
  •  Assisting with Council procurement by giving sound advice about relevant legislation, rules and procedures

Your significant post-qualification experience must include “expert knowledge of data protection law and practice” in line with the statutory requirement for a Data Protection Officer. Significant experience of working with contracts and procurement processes is also essential with in-depth knowledge of this area.
