We would like to recruit a Building Control Manager who will help us to build on our success.
This role offers the opportunity to lead the Council’s Building Consultancy team and play a key role as part of the Planning and Building Departmental Management Team. This is an opportunity for you to prove your leadership skills and share your fresh thinking in an organisation that is ready to help you make an impact.
We are looking for a dynamic and forward thinking individual with a strong track record of delivering quality building control services. Your technical expertise will mean that you will be the lead officer for the Council on building control matters. Your expertise will be complemented by your ambition and creativity.

Principal Building Surveyor

Salary - £47,085 - £57,507, plus relocation assistance.

Are you a dynamic and experienced Building Surveyor with a drive to lead a diverse team of professionals?

We have an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking authority located in a beautiful part of Hampshire. For an authority of our size, the Council has a significant, growing and mixed property portfolio valued in the region of £130m.

Your main focus will be to provide comprehensive property/construction advice to the Council and work with the Head of Estates and Economic Development to ensure that the Council’s assets are effectively and efficiently managed and maintained within current legislation. You will be responsible for a budget of up to £2m, which of which will be used to implement the Council’s Asset Management Plan. This varied role will give you an opportunity to oversee a full range of disciplines from facilities management, building services, maintenance, Health and Safety and compliance.

As you will be expected to lead, co-ordinate and manage our long term strategies in this area, you will have a broad, up-to-date knowledge of building construction and significant management experience. You will also have a recognised building related qualification, at degree level, or extensive relevant experience. In addition, you will hold a recognised relevant professional qualification, such as RICS.

(Senior) Private Sector Housing Officer

37 hours per week (part time hours considered)

£25,380 - £34,361 – Grade and salary dependent on experience

 

Would you like to join a forward-thinking Council located in a beautiful part of Hampshire and with excellent employee satisfaction rates?  We have an exciting opportunity in our Private Sector Housing Team for a Housing Officer for one year on a fixed term contract. 

 

In this challenging and varied role, you’ll be responsible for and lead on the delivery of all aspects of Private Sector Housing work including enforcement and licencing, and will carry out a diverse range of duties, including:-

  • Assisting with investigations into housing conditions in keeping with the Council’s statutory responsibilities under the Housing Act 2004 (and related legislation) and responding to complaints of disrepair in the private rented sector
  • Effectively processing Disabled Facility Grants
  • Providing advice to residents and liaising, advising and supporting private rented sector landlords and their agents
  • Investigation and enforcing housing standards in houses in multiple occupation
  • Inspections in relation to the Caravan Site and Control of Developments Act 1960
  • Supporting work to bring empty properties back into use
  • Assisting in the delivery of energy efficiency and home improvement initiatives

Reporting to the Principal Environmental Health Officer (Housing), you must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and negotiation skills, a good grasp of housing issues, the ability to prioritise and a clear commitment to delivery.  You’ll join a small established team working within Housing and Environmental Health and will  also work closely with a diverse range of external partners including other Local Authorities, Registered Providers and the voluntary sector.
