Dovey and Broom

Duo style it out with new business move

Emma Dovey and Stacey Broom received a £750 Business Incentive Grant from Test Valley Borough Council in recognition of their hard work in setting up their eco-friendly hair salon, Dovey & Broom Hairdressing.

Together with their established clientele in Romsey and extensive knowledge of hairdressing, it was a natural step for the pair to realise the potential of running a salon together. Rather than relocate with their former employer, the duo decided to sow the seeds of their own business and they opened Dovey & Broom Hairdressing on 1 August 2017.

Their Aveda concept salon has a natural atmosphere with specially selected recycled wood and materials coupled with the use of eco-friendly, high performance products. The business partners signed a three-year lease on the site in Abbey Walk, Romsey and are already expanding their team to meet local demand.

Emma Dovey and Stacey Broom, said: “We would like to thank Test Valley Borough Council for the support they have given us and in particular for the Business Incentive Grant which brought our dream to life. After a successful seven months since opening, we are excited to announce that Dovey & Broom are now expanding the team to hire another Senior Stylist.”

Romsey Abbey ward member, Councillor Clive Collier, said: “It is fantastic to see this thriving business in the heart of Romsey. The salon has flourished, and I am pleased to award Emma Dovey and Stacey Broom the Business Incentive Grant on behalf of Test Valley Borough Council.”

Test Valley Borough Council’s Business Incentive Grants are available to anyone looking to set up their own business in Test Valley. Anyone who successfully applies for the grant will receive a grant of £750 if their business is still going strong six months later.
