Developer withdraws Romsey Brewery site appeal
Stanborough Developments Ltd has withdrawn its appeal to the government to overturn a local planning decision relating to the Romsey Brewery site.
The developer submitted an appeal to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government earlier this year regarding Test Valley Borough Council’s decision to refuse its application to amend the legal agreement concerning the type of affordable housing previously agreed for the site. At the hearing on November 28, the developer confirmed that they would withdraw the appeal as they had applied to vary the wrong clause in the Section 106 legal agreement.
Stanborough Developments Ltd received planning permission for 211 dwellings in 2006 but only 13 houses have been built to date.
Planning portfolio holder, Councillor Nick Adams-King, said: “It is frustrating that there continues to be a lack of progress on this site. TVBC are determined to ensure affordable housing is provided as part of the development. We are equally determined to see the housing on the Brewery site completed and will be pursuing every option to unlock development.”
