Sharon a cut above the rest six months on
An Andover children’s hairdressers has received the second instalment of a Business Incentive Grant from Test Valley Borough Council. Sharon Liquorish invested her savings in fitting out a unit in the town’s High Street and six months after collecting her first £500 of the grant, she continues to go from strength to strength.
The Bulford resident is an experienced hairdresser with more than 20 years of experience and has previously worked for other hairdressers in the town. After spotting a gap in the market, Sharon decided to open up a new business that catered ‘Just 4 Kids’.
Sharon, owner of J4K said: “I’ve been really overwhelmed by the reaction I’ve had from the town. I was hoping that children could feel relaxed here and so far that has been the case.
“I put my savings into getting this place off the ground and I’ll always be grateful to Test Valley Borough Council for their help, support and advice when I needed it.”
Andover St Mary’s ward member, councillor John Cockaday presented the second £500 cheque to Sharon this month (December).
Councillor Cockaday said: “Sharon used her business sense, identified a market gap and has gone on to be a valuable member of our town. J4K is loved by children and I’m sure has made many parents happy in the process!
“I wish Sharon nothing but further success in the future.”
Recipients of the £1,000 grant receive £500 after three months of trading and a further £500 six months later. To be eligible for the grant, new or existing independent businesses must occupy a town centre ground floor unit which has been vacant for at least one month.
Qualifying businesses include shops, restaurants and cafes.
