Fine for Andover fly-tipper
An Andover woman has admitted to dumping a tent, bathroom shelves, a case full of paperwork and other waste in Launcelot Close after an investigation from Test Valley Borough Council.
Jitladda Saunders illegally dumped the waste in September last year and admitted the offence at Basingstoke Magistrates Court at the end of February.
Black bin bags, carpet gripper and a black suitcase full of paperwork were also all dumped in Launcelot Close by Mrs Saunders.
Following a council investigation, Mrs Saunders was fined £120 and made to pay a £30 victim surcharge, £30 compensation to the council for the clean-up of the waste, and £100 court costs.
Environmental portfolio holder, councillor Graham Stallard, said: “Fly-tipping is a very selfish crime and I am pleased that we have been able to prosecute the person responsible in this case. Your waste is your responsibility and not that of the council to come and clean up after you. If you need rubbish collected, please speak to us beforehand so we can offer advice.
“There are plenty of facilities across the borough to dispose of your waste correctly, and we will always try to help if residents have questions about their rubbish. You cannot simply dump it, and we will prosecute if we have sufficient evidence.”
