Apprentice Application Form Guide
This short guide gives some tips on completing the application form to ensure you provide all the information we need to consider your application. If you have any questions about the roles or need any assistance in completing the application, please contact jobs@testvalley.gov.uk or call Human Resources on 01264 368106.
Please ensure you provide us with at least one contact telephone number and an email address so we have a couple of different ways to contact you.
Education
Please provide details of any school / colleges attended and qualifications you are working towards or have achieved.
You will ideally have 5 GCSEs at grade 4/5 (previously grade C) or an equivalent qualification including Maths and English.
We place a high emphasis on our apprentices demonstrating a positive ‘can do’ attitude with a commitment to learning new skills. If you have not gained Maths and English at this level, we will support you to achieve these alongside the apprenticeship qualification.
Work Experience / Voluntary Work / Skills
Please provide details of any work experience and / or voluntary roles you have undertaken. This could also include any examples where you have taken on some duties outside of work, e.g. babysitting, sports clubs, helping at school or other events.

This is an opportunity for you to tell us about the skills you have and why you are interested in being an apprentice at Test Valley Borough Council.
Please have a look at the job description and person specification for more information about the role and what skills the Council is looking for. Please use this information to assist you in explaining your skills and how you feel you meet these requirements. For example, if you have worked in a team, please provide details of what you did, what your role was and what you achieved.
Do not worry if you don’t have the experience or all the skills listed in the person specification, please provide as much information as you can. We expect some of these skills to develop during your apprenticeship.
