Hampshire Apprentice Partnership

Test Valley Borough Council is one of four local authorities who have joined together to form the Hampshire Apprentice Partnership (HAP).  This enables us to deliver an exciting programme of shared events and experiences for apprentices, providing a broad offering to apprentices of all ages and a viable alternative to full time college or university study.

HAP provides a skills programme throughout our apprentices’ first year of employment where they attend regular workshop sessions to build workplace skills such as communication, presentation, first aid, team working and time management.  Attending these events also enables our apprentices to meet up with apprentices from across the four Councils and begin to build a network of contacts and support.  All of our apprentices also take part in a group project during this period, usually around National Apprentice Week, and are encouraged to do some volunteering within the community.

As well as support from their line manager and colleagues, all our apprentices have a mentor; an experienced person from another part of the Council who can offer confidential guidance and advice to help with learning, development and building confidence at work.
