A Taste of Test Valley
Test Valley is home to a wide range of wonderful food and drink producers.
The clear chalk streams of the River Test produce its famous trout – a local favourite in many recipes and menus. The region is also home to many vineyards as the chalk hills provide just the right environment for sparkling white and fresh rosé wine. Also owing its quality to the Hampshire chalk is a famous mineral water produced right on our doorstep.
The area is rich in livestock producers raising rare breed pigs and cattle and even water buffalo for their meat, and a cheese producer has grown up near Stockbridge.
Many of our local producers are members of Hampshire Fare, and are featured in the Taste of Test Valley leaflet, available to download at the end of this page.
Hampshire Fare publishes a free annual produce guide which is available online at www.hampshirefare.co.uk. They also organise the award-winning Hampshire Food Festival with an exciting programme of events.
