Establishing support groups during the Coronavirus Pandemic

We hope these simple guidelines are helpful when thinking about setting up a community volunteering activity in your local area. We want to help ensure that individuals and groups are providing safe and effective local support to our communities.

For help with establishing a volunteer group or network in your community, please contact your Community Engagement Officer. As a local authority we are passionate about volunteering and the amazing impact it has, never more so than in the current climate when so many people realise their potential to help each other. We want to offer advice to organisations or groups who want to get their people volunteering safely, for the first time or maybe doing different activities.

In the current climate, volunteering should only be for essential services such as providing shopping for someone unable to access food and medicine, Please refer to the Hampshire CVS, Hampshire Volunteer Handbook (pdf, 165kb) developed in response to Covid-19, 25th March 2020
