Attention all Landlords - New Mandatory HMO Licensing Comes into effect from 1st October 2018

From 1st October 2018, all Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs)  with five or more occupants comprising of two or more family units will require a licence to operate.

It will also introduce a new minimum room sizing, as well as meaning some properties that didn’t require an HMO licence, will now require one.

What happens if a landlord doesn’t comply with the new HMO regulations?

Failure to comply with the new HMO regulations could mean hefty fines for landlords. Not having a HMO licence when necessary is deemed an offence under the Housing Act 2004.
