Exceptional Hardship Discretionary Fund
How we will make our decision
Each application will be carefully looked at and judged on it’s own merit. Some of the factors we may consider are:
-
The difference between any Council Tax Support and Council Tax liability
-
Whether you have been in regular contact and provided information to us in the application process
-
If a Discretionary Housing Payment has already been awarded to meet a shortfall in rent (where you are eligible)
-
Any relevant personal circumstances (for example medical conditions and caring responsibilities)
-
The length of time additional support will be required
-
Your (and your partner if applicable) income and expenditure, and that of any one else in your household.
-
Whether your expenditure could reasonably be reduced
-
Whether you could increase your income by applying for other benefits
-
Any savings or capital you (or your partner if applicable) have
-
Any other debts you have
-
The exceptional nature of your circumstances.
This list is not exhaustive, and any other factors or special circumstances will be considered.
Once a decision has been made, we will write to you to let you know whether an award has been made from the Exceptional Hardship Fund and the reasons for our decision.
