If You Disagree With Our Decision

If you disagree with how much Council Tax Support, you must contact us in writing within one calendar month of the date you receive your revised Council Tax bill. You can:  

  • Ask us to explain how we made our decision 

  • Ask us to look at the decision again. You should include the reason you think our decision is wrong.  

  • Appeal against the decision. If you disagree with the Council’s decision about your Council Tax Support, you have the right to appeal to an independent body, the Valuation Tribunal.  You can do this online at www.valuationtribunal.gov.uk.  You must send your appeal to the Tribunal within two months of the date of your Council Tax Support decision letter.    

If you disagree with our decision and take any of the steps above, you must pay as billed while the decision is looked at again, or your appeal is dealt with by the Valuation Tribunal. If you do not pay as billed, recovery action will not be held.
