New Developments
Two new neighbourhoods are being created in Andover. On the north east side of town 2,500 new homes are being built at Augusta Park (East Anton). On the south east side, a new 1,200 home development called Picket Twenty is also well underway. Further homes will be provided in future at Picket Piece as Andover’s population grows from its present 41,000 to over 50,000.
To meet these needs new investment is happening elsewhere – the Borough and County Councils are investing £2.9m in a new town centre bus station and South West Trains have just finished spending £0.7m upgrading the railway station.
Major new commercial development is happening at the Andover Business Park being developed by Goodman. 1.6m. square feet, providing 2,500 new jobs is underway with The Co-op already occupying their new 600,000 square feet regional distribution centre employing 900 people.
Mark Leonard, The Co-operative Group’s regional head of logistics, said: "Andover is an excellent location to serve our stores in the south of England and we have worked closely with the developer who has delivered a fantastic facility on time and on budget. Our new regional distribution centre will not only provide major employment opportunities locally but will also help further boost the local economy for many years to come. This is a major investment in, and commitment to, the local community.
