Registration of Skin Piercing Activities including Acupuncture, Ear Piercing and Other Cosmetic Piercing, Electrolysis, Semi-Permanent Skin Colouring and Tattooing
In accordance with Part 8 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982, it is a requirement for anyone wishing to carry on certain activities that involve some form of skin piercing, as a business within the Test Valley area, to register with Test Valley Borough Council before first carrying out any such activities.
Prior registration relates to the following activities:
- Acupuncture
- Ear Piercing and other Cosmetic Piercing
- Electrolysis
- Semi-Permanent Skin-Colouring
- Tattooing (including Microblading)
Registration can be completed using the following online registration form: Test Valley Borough Council. The registration and fee includes both the premises where the skin piercing is undertaken and the practitioner(s) doing it.
There is a charge for the initial registration and a lesser charge for varying an existing registration. These charges contribute towards regulatory activities associated with checking compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and promoting best practice.
