Public spaces protection order (PSPOs)
After consultation the Council has made a new Public Spaces Protection Order, the Order replaces the old Public Spaces Protection Order which related to the consumption and confiscation of alcohol in Andover and Romsey and surrounding areas. The new Order in addition has further provisions to allow action by the police and authorised persons to control anti-social behaviour in Andover Town centre.
Additional signs have been placed in Andover Town Centre to notify members of the public that the orders are in place. Individuals who break the prohibitions could receive a £100 penalty or may be liable for prosecution.
The new powers include a prohibition on causing nuisance alarm or harassment to allow the public to enjoy the town centre, the order can be viewed by downloading a copy from this page. It is available under documents.
