Last chance to share your views on future art for Andover
Test Valley Borough Council is asking for views on existing artwork in Andover to help shape two new pieces of public art.
Having run two interactive public consultations already the council, along with artist Alex Hoare, who was commissioned using funding available through Section 106 agreements, will be hosting a final public event this Sunday 4 July at the Town Mills riverside park.
The session will focus on river stories and visitors will be invited to make river creatures, while taking an in-depth look at the river and its natural habitat. Residents attending will also have the opportunity to express their opinions about current artwork in the town, such as the Viking Longboat and the Poetry In Motion Trail and look at how they interact with these works.
All of the suggestions and information gathered from this and the previous consultations will then be used to inform a proposal for two original pieces of public art.
For anyone who has not yet been able to attend a session, and would like to contribute their thoughts and ideas, a new online survey has also been created to offer everyone the opportunity to get involved. Survey responses will be used in addition to the feedback gained from the public consultations. The survey can be found at www.testvalley.gov.uk/PublicArt
The new pieces of art are due to be installed in Andover’s riverside park. The park was completed earlier this year and offers a tranquil green space in the centre of town, where people can play, picnic and relax. Benches have been installed overlooking the river and the area is full of luscious green trees and plants creating a picture-perfect backdrop for the new public art.
