Luke Shearer, Shearers Oven Cleaning

New oven cleaning business off to a shiny and bright start

A new domestic oven cleaning company in Andover has been awarded a £750 Business Incentive Grant from Test Valley Borough Council.

Shearers Oven Cleaning has been opened by Luke Shearer, who decided to take on the venture to have less of a commute each day and wanted to be his own boss by the age of 40.

Luke grew up in Andover and for the last few years he has worked in customer services, and was the regional customer service manager for Linden Homes South, who then later became part of the Vistry Group, formerly Bovis Homes. He was responsible for selling a large part of the early Taylor Wimpey estates at Augusta Park.

Luke said, “Having worked in new homes with new appliances for many years I have become aware that cleaning is a growing industry and becoming more important to people. I hope to grow and diversify over the coming years.”

Harroway ward councillor Karen Hamilton said: “The grant schemes are a great opportunity for those wishing to set up a new business in Test Valley.

“I am delighted that Luke has been successful in his grant application and wish him every success.”

The council’s £750 Business Incentive Grants are available to anyone looking to set up their own full-time business in Test Valley. Anyone who successfully applies for the grant will receive £750 if their business is still going strong 6 months later.

These funds have become available to the community as a consequence of the council’s prudent investments, financial management and the use of the New Homes Bonus.
