Free Christmas tree drop off points across Test Valley

Test Valley Borough Council (TVBC) will once again be taking the stress away from properly disposing of your old Christmas trees, once the festive period is over.

Free collection points will be opening across the borough allowing residents to leave their undecorated, real Christmas trees to be taken away by the council.

The trees left for collection are treated the same way as garden waste and taken for composting.

There are nine different sites across Test Valley:

• Enham Arch Retail Park, Andover

• Dobbies Garden Centre, Andover

• Hillier Garden Centre, Weyhill

• Augusta Park Community Centre, Andover

• Alma Road Car Park, Romsey

• Knightwood Leisure Centre, Valley Park

• B&Q, Nursling

• West Wellow Village Hall

• Hillier Garden Centre, Braishfield

These sites are provided for real Christmas trees only and will be in operation from Saturday 28 December 2024 to Monday 13 January 2025. Please follow the site instructions and place the tree in the area provided.

If residents are already signed up to TVBC’s kerbside garden waste collection service, their tree can be put out alongside their green bin or sack when the collections start again in the new year. Only trees over 6 feet tall need to be cut in half.

Portfolio holder for Recycling and Environmental Services, Councillor David Drew, said: “I’m delighted the council has been able to provide this service once again this festive period.

“The Christmas tree collection points make the post-Christmas clear out a lot simpler and quicker for residents that aren’t signed up to our garden waste collections. It also ensures that your tree will be disposed of correctly and made into a fantastic soil conditioner.”
