Share your feedback on air quality

People who live and work in Test Valley are being asked for their feedback on local air quality, including their main areas of concern.

The borough council has launched a consultation that will run until 1 January, which will help the authority to shape its approach to improving air quality in the area over the coming years.

Road traffic, idling vehicles, chimney smoke and garden bonfires are just some of the factors that impact pollution levels.

While the largely rural nature of Test Valley means that air pollution is generally of lesser concern than for many large urban areas, improving the local environment is one of council’s key priorities and striving for better air quality is part of that.

Environmental health portfolio holder, Councillor Kirsty North, said: “There is an ever-increasing focus on air quality due to the impact of pollution on not just the environment, but also, critically, on public health. This survey will help us to better understand how it is affecting our communities and any concerns they might have about the air quality in their area, which will enable us to focus our efforts on addressing these.”

The survey aims to better understand people’s view of air quality in their area and how worried they are about potential impacts.

The survey is available until Wednesday 1 January at www.testvalley.gov.uk/consultations.
