Go for gold at Andover’s Step into summer event
Step into summer will return to Andover this month, kick-starting the summer holidays.
Taking place on the High Street on Saturday 27 July, the free event, which has been organised by Test Valley Borough Council in partnership with InAndover from Andover BID, will be celebrating all things sport by offering a range of activities and entertainment this year.
Andover residents will have the opportunity to make their way around a circuit of activities hosted by local sports clubs.
Chapel Arts Studio (CAS) will be running a creative workshop suitable for all ages to hand-print sport-themed t-shirts. There will also be a make and take activity for children, where they will be able to decorate wooden medals and then wear them throughout the day.
An Olympic Torch from the 2012 London Olympic Games will be stationed on the High Street providing an opportunity for everyone to pose for a photo.
Visitors also need to be on the lookout for Miss Timed and Miss Judged, some special sports-day adjudicators who will be keeping the fun and games in order with witty commentary, live announcements and rather silly trials and races.
Inside the Chantry Centre a special Community Table Tennis offer will open and visitors and shoppers will be welcome to have a go. Andover residents will then have the chance to continue to play for free over the summer in the garden area next to Boswell’s Café. The table will be open every day from 10am to 5pm and 10am to 4pm on Sundays until 31 August.
