Test Valley Borough Council launches Youth Sports Week to inspire young people to get active

A new initiative is launching in Test Valley this summer to celebrate local sports clubs and encourage young people to get active, try new activities and connect with their community.

Youth Sports Week will be taking place from Monday 11 to Thursday 14 August 2025, with a packed programme of affordable taster sessions delivered by a fantastic line-up of local clubs. Each session will cost just £2.50, giving children and young people the chance to explore a wide range of sports in a fun and welcoming environment.

The Youth Sports Week aims to showcase the brilliant variety of sports clubs in the borough and boost youth participation in physical activity. Families are encouraged to support their children in trying something new, helping them stay healthy, build confidence, and make new friends.

Councillor Terese Swain, Portfolio Holder for Community and Leisure, said: “Youth Sports Week is a fantastic way to shine a light on the brilliant clubs we have here in Test Valley and to give young people the chance to try something new. We’re really excited to be working with so many dedicated local clubs to make this happen.”

The initiative is being delivered in partnership with a number of local clubs, including Red Hot Gymnastics, Wellow Tennis Club, Headlands Padel, East Anton Cricket, Starlight Trampoline and Gymnastics Club, Andover Cricket Club, Romsey Hockey Club and Andover BMX Club.

Registrations are now open, and spaces are expected to fill quickly. This is a great opportunity for young people to try something new, stay active and make new friends this summer.
