The Tea Room Andover awarded £1,200 Independent Retailer Grant
A much-loved vintage-style café in the heart of Andover is receiving a £1,200 boost from Test Valley Borough Council’s (TVBC) Independent Retailer Grant scheme.
The Tea Room Andover, located at 45 High Street behind the Guildhall, opened nine months ago and has quickly become a favourite destination for locals. Owned and run by mother and daughter duo Jackie Lusk and Hayley Rowbotham, the business offers a cosy and welcoming space to enjoy homemade breakfasts, lunches, cream teas, and pre-booked afternoon tea experiences.
The grant will support the continued growth of the business, helping to enhance its offering and attract more customers to the town centre.
Councillor Debbie Cattell, Andover St Mary’s ward member, said: “The Tea Room has established itself as a valued addition to the High Street. I’m pleased that the council has been able to support the business through the Independent Retailer Grant scheme, which is designed to help local enterprises grow and contribute to the footfall in the town centre.”
Jackie Lusk, co-owner of The Tea Room, added: “We appreciate the advice and guidance received from TVBC, and of course the support from the community and our regular customers. We look forward to introducing new menu items for the summer to include paninis, a salad bar and ice creams. Once we have received the go-ahead for our alcohol license, we will be enhancing our Afternoon Tea Experience with the option to include Prosecco.”
The Independent Retailer Grant is part of the council’s ongoing commitment to supporting local businesses and revitalise town centres across the borough.
