Council hosts event to help landlords navigate government‑imposed Renters’ Rights Act changes
Test Valley Borough Council is inviting private landlords to attend its upcoming Private Landlords’ Forum, which will focus on the government-imposed Renters’ Rights Act, the most significant change to residential lettings in years. The forum aims to help landlords understand the new legislation, adapt their practices, and continue providing high-quality housing across the borough.
The event will take place on Thursday 12 February 2026, from 5pm to 7pm at The Lights Theatre, West Street, Andover. Landlords will hear from the National Residential Landlords Association (NRLA) on the implications of the Renters’ Rights Act, receive guidance on accommodating pets under the updated rules, and take part in a panel ‘Questions and Answers’ session to address any questions or concerns.
Housing and Environmental Health Portfolio Holder at Test Valley Borough Council, Councillor Kirsty North, said: “The Renters’ Rights Act represents a major shift for landlords and tenants alike. This forum is an opportunity for landlords to gain clarity, share experiences, and ensure they are fully prepared for the changes ahead.”
The Private Landlords’ Forum is part of the council’s ongoing commitment to creating a space for information sharing, networking, and collaboration. By working closely with local landlords, the council aims to support compliance with new regulations and maintain high standards of service for tenants.
Attendance is free, but spaces are limited, so early booking is recommended.
