Abi, Revenues and Welfare Apprentice

Abi Clark

My name is Abi and I started working at the council in 2021 as a Revenues and Welfare apprentice in the Finance & Revenues service.

During my apprenticeship, I completed a Level 3 Business Administration course where I attended Andover College once a week to study. After my allocated day, I would then put my learning into practice during my working week.

Since finishing my Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship, I then moved onto a Level 4 Institute of Revenues Rating & Valuation qualification. This course provided me with a broader understanding of Revenues and Benefits which has ultimately improved my customer service skills when assisting customers. I have since been successful in applying for a full-time role as a Revenues and Welfare Officer.

The council have provided me with so many different opportunities. I have had the opportunity to work on Government Grant schemes. These schemes have given me the opportunity to take lead on these projects and provide grants to the local community which felt very rewarding.

I really recommend an apprenticeship because it’s a great way to earn whilst you learn. Everyone at the council is very friendly and have made me feel welcome since day one. The team and managers have all been really supportive throughout my apprenticeship. The council is a great place to work.
