Stitch Mayo – Service desk officer

I spent over a decade in the audio branding industry, helping to run a studio where I produced and edited audio for some of the world’s biggest companies. I collaborated closely with voice artists, composed jingles, and even created the theme music for the Santander Bikes in London (the “Boris bikes”!). A key part of my role involved designing on-hold and IVR experiences, which sparked my interest in user experience. It taught me how important those first points of contact are, and how to make them as smooth, intuitive, and helpful as possible and I try to bring this understanding to my role on the Service Desk.

Since joining the council, I’ve really valued the shift in purpose - being part of something that directly benefits the community is fulfilling. I enjoy the variety of projects, the inclusive and supportive team culture, and how genuinely friendly and welcoming everyone is.

The council has also been fantastic in supporting my professional development. I recently completed ITIL, which has helped me align more closely with best practices in service management. There’s a strong emphasis on learning and growth, and I’ve been encouraged and supported by my awesome team and management to take on new challenges and continue developing my skills.
