Imogen Colley – Community engagement manager

I joined the Council straight out of studying Psychology at University, at a time where I didn’t really know what I wanted to do with my life! I applied for a job on reception, which couldn’t have been much closer to my parents’ house at the time, while I tried to figure out what next. While working with the brilliant customer service team, a job in Community Engagement came up.

I’d not heard of this kind of work before, and it felt exciting. I was lucky enough to get that role, and fast forward 9 years I’m still here- at least now with a much better idea of what I want to do with my life!

The opportunity to work so closely with local communities. Putting people and places at the centre of decision making is core to the way TVBC works, which means there’s also lots of opportunity to work with colleagues from across the organisation on a really diverse range of projects.

Since starting at TVBC I am now in my third role as Community Engagement Manager and I’ve been supported consistently throughout my career. Most recently undertaking CMI level 5 with a group of colleagues from across the organisation. This development has been really valuable transitioning into a management role for the first time.
