UK Parliamentary General Election - 4 July 2024

Voting by post or proxy

If you are unable to get to your polling station on 4 July, there are different options available to you in order for you to cast your vote.

  • By post - the deadline to apply to vote by post is 5pm on Wednesday 19 June 2024.   For more information on how to apply to vote by post, please visit our Voting by post webpage.

For postal votes applied for by 29 May 2024, these will be sent out by 18 June 2024.  For postal votes applied for after this date and before the deadline, these will be sent out around 24 June 2024.

If you’re too late to post your ballot paper

Take it to your local polling station by 10pm, or one of our offices before they close.  If you want to hand in your completed postal vote at the council offices or at a polling station, you will need to complete a short form in order for it to be accepted.  Do not put your postal vote into the letterbox at the offices as it will be rejected.

  • By proxy - the deadline to apply to vote by proxy is 5pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024.
