Voting in Elections
Electoral Services are responsible for compiling and maintaining the Register of Electors, as well as keeping the location and boundaries of electoral areas and polling stations under review where the Council is permitted to by law. These include Borough Wards, Parish boundaries, Polling Districts and Polling Places.
The Electoral Commission has worked in partnership with Mencap to produce an easy read guide about what voting is (pdf, 1.6mb) to help electors understand how voting works.
Most people choose to vote at their local polling station on election day, however there are other ways to cast your vote once you are registered, and further information about the options available to you can be found within this article.
