Polling District Review

Notice of Review


Test Valley Borough Council is undertaking a periodic review of Polling Districts and Polling Places, under section 18A of the Representation of the People Act 1983 (as amended). The review will at the same time consider the suitability of existing polling stations and possible alternative polling stations.

The Council is seeking representations and feedback from any interested party that wishes to comment on any aspect of the polling districts and/or polling places and/or polling stations currently used. Electors within the Test Valley Borough are specifically  entitled to make representations.

Anyone making representations on the suitability of existing or proposed polling stations should where possible suggest alternative polling places or polling stations, and are asked to support their representations with reasons, in order to assist the review process.

The (Acting) Returning Officer has made a submission on the existing and proposed polling stations and that submission is available on the Council’s website:-

www.testvalley.gov.uk/pdr. Anyone responding to the consultation is entitled to comment on the (Acting) Returning Officer’s submission as well as other matters which are the subject of the review.

The consultation period for the review formally commences on Monday 15 July 2019 and concludes on Friday 30 August 2019.

The Council would welcome any person or body with expertise in access for persons with any type of disability making a representation or commenting on the proposals, the Returning Officer's representation or any other related matter. Similarly, representations from disabled residents would be particularly welcomed.

Information about the existing schedule of polling districts and polling places can be inspected at the offices of Test Valley Borough Council during normal office hours 08:30am – 5pm Monday to Thursday and 08:30am – 4:30pm on Friday.  Information of the review is also available at www.testvalley.gov.uk/pdr

Final decisions on any representations made to the Council will be made at the Council meeting on 20 November 2019.

NOTE: A Polling District is the geographical sub-division of an electoral area.  A Polling Place is the building or area in which polling stations are located.

Neither the Parliamentary Constituency boundaries nor the Local Government Ward or Division boundaries may be changed by this review.
