What should I do if I can’t afford a deduction?
We do not have discretion to remove or reduce a deduction for a non-dependant if you do not meet one of the exemptions.
If a deduction has been applied, you should talk to your non-dependant about them contributing to your rent.
You can apply for a Crisis and Resilience Fund Housing Payment to help cover the deduction; however, this is not a long-term solution.
