Disagreeing with a Housing Benefit decision

How do I tell you that I disagree with a decision?

You should tell the council as soon as possible if you disagree with a decision. You can:
• Write to the council
• Email the council
• Use our online contact form

It helps if you explain why, you think the decision is wrong and include any evidence you have.
There are time limits for disagreeing with a Housing Benefit decision. This means you must act within a set amount of time.

Asking for the decision to be looked at again (revision):
• You should ask within 1 month of the date on the decision letter.
• If you ask late, you should explain why.
• The council may still look at the decision if there was a good reason for the delay.

Appealing to a tribunal:
• You must appeal within 1 month of the date on the decision letter.
• An appeal must be made in writing.
• Late appeals must be made within 13 months of the decision date and must include the reason it is late.
