Business in Test Valley

As a place in which to live and work, Test Valley is hard to beat. Test Valley covers some 250 square miles of western Hampshire, is renowned for its natural surroundings, ranging from the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the valleys and meadows of the River Test and its tributaries. It is also an economically vibrant area in which a huge variety of businesses thrive. These range from household names such as Simply Health and Stannah Stairlifts in Andover to Chemring at Roke Manor just outside Romsey and Merck on Southampton Science Park. But as well as these large companies the borough has thousands of much smaller businesses operating throughout the area - in villages as well as towns.

Good Communications
Test Valley is well placed for national road networks, with access to the A30, A303 (M3), A34 (M4) and the M27, A27, A36, amongst other main routes. Andover is served by the Exeter to London (Waterloo) rail service. Romsey is served by the Portsmouth (via Salisbury) to Cardiff service. The area also benefits from airport and harbour facilities at nearby Southampton.

Smaller start up business units – easy in-easy out – available on a short term basis
In addition to larger units the Borough is especially well-served with small units on short-term licenses. Complementing the Council’s 37 unit Walworth Enterprise Centre is Basepoint Plc’s Andover Business & Innovation Centre on East Portway.

In and around Romsey there are industrial and commercial sites available at Abbey Park (North Baddesley) and Nursling Industrial Estate.

Nearby Southampton Science Park is one of the country’s leading science parks and is linked to Southampton University. It hosts an Enterprise Hub designated by Seeda.
