Public Art Commission – Statues of HRH Queen Elizabeth II
Public engagement
A key element of the two statues’ designs are the cloaks, where Amy is including the story of some of the events that took place during Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s reign.
Residents and visitors in Andover have contributed pictures on mini-canvases, as well as personal memories of the Queen, at a series of engagement events. Participants include children from Anton Junior School, Portway, Roman Way, Mark Way, and Pilgrims Cross Schools; as well as residents of Andover Nursing Home, and visitors to Second Sundays in Andover.
These images have inspired how Amy inscribes the story of the Queen’s seventy-year reign onto the statues’ robes. Members of the public across the borough are also invited to send any personal recollections of the Queen to Amy on amysculptor@hotmail.com – remember to include your full name and the place where you live.
Look out for activites and opportunities to get involved, including engagement events about the Romsey statue, on our news pages and social feeds.
