Leaving armed forces accommodation
If you are leaving the armed forces the MOD will issue you with a Certificate of Cessation of Entitlement to Occupy Service Accommodation six months before you are discharged. The certificate will indicate the date on which entitlement to occupy service accommodation will end.
You can explore what housing options are available to you whilst you are still serving within the armed forces.
You should speak to your Army Welfare Officer in the first instance. They can give you advice on initial steps to take and how you can secure accommodation. They can make a referral to Housing Options on your behalf.
If you expect to be homeless following discharge, or you are a former member of the armed forces who is homeless or threatened with homelessness, you should contact the council as soon as possible. Housing Options Contact Form
You will be invited to an appointment with a housing options officer who will assess your housing and support needs and agree a personal housing plan with you. It will set out how the council will support you and what other agencies you should engage with to help you find and sustain a home.
Housing Options:
- Check Test Valley Borough Council’s housing allocation scheme (www.hampshirehomechoice.org.uk) to see if you are eligible to apply to Hampshire Home Choice. This is the Council’s housing register that enables you to be considered for social and affordable housing in Test Valley.
