A fiery Fiesta to spice up Andover High Street!
A flamboyant Chilli Fiesta will fill Andover High Street on Sunday, 5 September from 11am – 6pm.
Imagine hot and earthy colours and the fragrances of chilli, incorporated into a myriad of exciting products, brought to you by a wide range of stall holders and artisans. There will be fresh chillies, sauces and pickles, jams and chutneys, and rather surprisingly sweets and chocolates too! Have you ever tried chilli ice-cream?
Did you know that there are over 400 types of chillies, and whilst it can’t promise to feature them all, the Chilli Fiesta will feature them from growing right through to the table.
Adding to the Fiesta atmosphere there will be live music from 11am with Ingenious Gentlemen, hot food from The Artisan Pizza Kitchen and drinks to sit and enjoy or take-away from the Andover Tap with their horsebox bar and G&T’s from Gorilla Spirits.
Creative activities for children are taking place, with a ‘make your own paper cactus in a pot’ craft activity in conjunction with The Artroom - no pre-booking is necessary, just drop in to the craft gazebo in the High Street.
Leader of the council, councillor Phil North, said: “This event is certain to spice up the High Street on Sunday, 5 September. It is a new event for the High Street, and we are hoping to build on it year on year to make it a regular fixture in the calendar.
“It is part of a wider programme to encourage more visitors to Andover, and to provide a range of activities to appeal to all ages. The pop-up indoor craft market continues in the Chantry Centre on the last Saturday of each month, and the Artisan market on the third Sunday of each month, and in August we had the popular return of the family-friendly free Four Fun Fridays. There will be even more as the year progresses, so do keep an eye on the Test Valley Borough Council and Andover Vision social media sites.”
