Businesses urged to apply for new covid grant

Local businesses can now apply for a one-off Additional Restrictions Grant of up to £6,000 after Test Valley Borough Council announced further financial support for those impacted by the Plan B restrictions.

The grant is available to businesses in the travel, travel supply chain, events supply chain and hospitality supply chain industries.

The government announced that they would provide a package of support to those affected by the additional restrictions, which ran from 10 December to 27 January, and local authorities are now rolling out those schemes across the country.

Businesses are encouraged to apply by 18 March 2022 to ensure that the council can process their claim before the scheme closes on 31 March 2022.

Finance portfolio holder, councillor Maureen Flood, said: “We know that the lockdowns and additional restrictions have had a catastrophic impact on many industries, with travel, events and hospitality companies some of the hardest hit.

“This money is there to be claimed, so please do apply if your business fits the criteria and we will process the claims as quickly as possible.”

The news comes as Test Valley Borough Council recently announced that the Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant was open for applications until 18 March, offering grants of up to £6k for the hospitality and leisure industries.
