Andover youth project awarded grant to run more activities through the holidays
A youth project in Andover is benefitting from a grant worth more than £1,700 from Test Valley Borough Council.
Andover Community Engage (ACE) Youth applied for the funding in order to help them run activities for young people throughout the holidays.
During the six-week summer holidays, they welcomed around 40 to 50 13-19 years olds every day, providing a safe place for them to hang out and make friends.
Thanks to the money awarded by TVBC, they were able to do the same thing during the October half term and in preparation for the Christmas holidays.
The money will allow the group to make advanced activity bookings, rather than having to rely on last minute bookings once they receive money from parents.
ACE Youth is also supported by the ACE Community Fridge, which will help stop some young people from going hungry throughout the breaks from school.
Andover St Mary’s ward councillor Iris Andersen said:
“I’m thrilled we have been able to support ACE Youth with their project. Their work with young people was vital in the summer holidays and I hope this will be able to continue for years to come.”
