New regular Duathlon event launched at Ganger Farm Sports Park
Ganger Farm Sports Park has launched a monthly duathlon event hosted by Swim Bike Run Local in partnership with British Triathlon. This great new cycling and running event, on the third Sunday of every month, has been created to offer the people of Romsey and surrounding areas the opportunity to take part in something different to challenge themselves both mentally and physically.
It’s a great way to keep in shape and perfect for both entry level and more experienced participants - the first two events have taken place and numbers are growing steadily each month.
The cycle route is 1.4k and run route is just under 1k; participants can do up to seven laps which equates to 9.8k cycling and up to just over 5k running, so as much or as little as they want.
Community, Leisure and Tourism portfolio holder, Councillor Terese Swain, said “This is a fantastic opportunity for the local community to set a challenge and get exercising. The Duathlon offers individuals the flexibility to set their own distance, allowing them to compete at a level which is both challenging and achievable.”
The Duathlon event is on the third Sunday of every month. The next event will take place on Sunday 19th November at 7.45am at Ganger Farm Sports Park, near Romsey. There is a small fee of £5 to participate and it is not a competition, but an individual challenge. The cycle route is first, followed by the run. When cycling everyone must wear a helmet to be able to take part. To book a place email: gangersports@testvalley.gov.uk
The event also relies on volunteers to marshall the routes and help keep the runners and cyclists safe. Please get in touch if this is something you would like to be involved in.
