Patient care improved thanks to council funding

Andover Health Hub is making patients’ lives easier thanks to a Councillor Community Grant from Test Valley Borough Council (TVBC).

The Health Hub opens five days a week, delivering a programme of NHS health and blood pressure checks. As part of these checks, some patients need to book an additional blood test at Andover War Memorial Hospital.

The £987 grant from the council has enabled the team to purchase in-house Ipads, meaning staff can now help patients to book their additional blood tests whilst they are still at the Hub, rather than relying on them having the confidence and the equipment to do this themselves at home.

Councillor Iris Andersen from the St Mary’s ward said, “I am pleased to award this grant that will make a huge difference in the support that the Primary Care Network can provide to our local community, including a more efficient and accessible service to book important health checks”.

Councillor Jan Budzynski also from the St Mary’s ward added “It is fantastic to be able to fund and support such a great facility that will make an impact on services within our local community.”

The Test Valley Borough Councillors’ Community Grant Scheme exists to support local people in establishing their own priorities and to deliver local solutions to local issues. It also aims to encourage community led initiatives, supported by Borough Councillors who can play an active part in helping their communities deliver their ambitions.

Not-for-profit, charitable community groups and organisations can apply to the Councillor Community Grant Scheme for a grant up to two-thirds of the cost of their project or activity, up to a maximum of £1,000.
