Abbotswood Summer Social supported with £1,000 Councillor Community Grant
Cupernham ward Councillor Janet Burnage is continuing to support the community with a £1,000 Councillor Community Grant awarded to Abbotswood Community Association for their upcoming Abbotswood Summer Social.
The event, taking place on Saturday 2 August from 12:00 to 16:00 at Abbotswood Sports Ground, is set to bring together residents from across Abbotswood and surrounding areas for a free afternoon of music and entertainment for all ages.
“This is a great example of how councillors can work alongside community groups to create something lasting,” said Councillor Janet Burnage. “It’s not just about funding - it’s about showing up, listening to what matters to residents, and being part of building that community spirit.”
“It’s the simple things - music, food, friendly faces - that help bring a neighbourhood together. Supporting this event reflects our commitment to making Abbotswood a great place to live and gives us the opportunity to connect with people beyond their front doors.”
The Summer Social is one of several events planned by the Community Association to support neighbourliness, wellbeing, and inclusion across the area.
Councillors will be attending the event on 2 August to meet residents and show their continued support for the work of the Community Association and local volunteers.
