Design Review Panel

The Planning and Building Service at Test Valley Borough Council hosts monthly meetings with a panel of independent architects and specialist experts to discuss the design of current planning schemes that have been submitted formally or have been submitted under the Council’s pre-application advice service.

The Design Review Panel is comprised of local architects who volunteer their time to the Council. The meetings are intended to provide specialist design advice to assist planning officers in their assessment, and determination of a development proposal. Items are put forward by the relevant case officer and on occasions, the applicant and their architect may be invited to present their item. This is however at the discretion of the planning officer. Applicants and their architects are not routinely invited to the Panel discussions.

Written comments from the Design Review Panel will be regarded as a consultation response in relation to a particular development proposal and, where they relate to a current planning application, will be publically available.
