A New Neighbourhood at Whitenap, Romsey
Introduction
Land at Whitenap is allocated within the Test Valley Borough Revised Local Plan 2016 to provide a new neighbourhood of approximately 1300 houses together with a range of facilities and associated infrastructure. This includes affordable housing, community and education facilities, including a primary school, community hall and local centre along with public open space and vehicular, cycling and pedestrian infrastructure to link the development with the surrounding area. The site is also allocated to provide approximately 6 hectares of land for employment uses to complement the new neighbourhood.
Specific policies within the Local Plan set out what is expected to be provided at Whitenap. Policy COM3 details the requirements of the new neighbourhood and policy LE3 sets out the requirements of the employment provision. A visual summary of these requirements are also shown on the indicative allocation map.
