Dog Waste Bins

We provide more than 300 dog waste bins at strategic locations across the borough, enabling dog owners to conveniently dispose of their dog waste.

Dog waste can also be bagged and disposed in normal litter bins, extending this convenience so that our provision is one of the best in the UK.

A local authority is under no obligation to provide any bins for dog waste, and where they are unavailable dog owners should bag the waste and take it home for disposal in their refuse bin.

While we welcome suggestions for further sites for such bins, we will consider such requests carefully, weighing the existing provision and costs of the installation and ongoing emptying. We know from experience that installing a dog waste bin does not solve a dog fouling problem in an area as the minority of irresponsible dog owners will still allow their pets to foul even next to a bin.

We do provide a bin installation and ongoing collection service ‘Dog Bin Package’ for parish councils interested in having dog waste bins on their land.

You can report an overflowing bin here: My Test Valley or alternatively you can contact Customer Services on 01264 368000 or 01794 527700 where you can also report a damaged bin.  If you wish to request a new bin please email environmentalservice@testvalley.gov.uk
