Apprentice Stories
Jack, Grounds Maintenance Apprentice
I am studying a level 2 horticulture apprenticeship.
As a Grounds maintenance apprentice, my roles and responsibilities are to look after and maintain the green open spaces throughout Test valley. From working in the local Green Flag awarded Parks, to maintaining the Shrubs and hedges all around the area.
The reason I chose to do an apprenticeship is because I was looking for a career change, and an apprenticeship is a great way to start of as you get to work and get hands on experience, as well as also studying in order to get a qualification. You also get paid whilst doing it which is another benefit.
I like working for Test Valley Borough Council because the staff are all very welcoming and helpful and there is a lot of support and guidance in order for me to complete my apprenticeship and studies.
I would recommend an apprenticeship to others because it’s a great way to kick start a career or job you want to do, and you also get a bit of money whilst learning new skills and training on the job.
