The new development at Picket Piece will consist of approximately 900 homes with associated facilities and infrastructure. These add to the 90 dwellings that existed previously.
The site has been under construction since 2014. At least 40% of the houses will be affordable units to be delivered by Vivid Housing.
A total of 520 new homes were occupied by the end of March 2019. The last phase of 63 homes is currently under construction with an expected completion date of end 2019/beginning of 2020.
In addition to this there are a number of other smaller developments taking place across Picket Piece including 53 properties by Bellway Homes.
Key pieces of infrastructure to be delivered throughout the development include:
• Children’s play space
• Allotments
• Informal open space
• Retention of areas of nature conservation
• Enhancement to pedestrian and cycle links from the new development
• Financial contribution towards enhancement of existing community facilities in the vicinity
• Provision of a local centre with shops
• Tennis courts
• Sports pitches & pavilion
• Financial contribution towards sports facilities within Andover
