Article 4 Directions
What is an Article 4 Direction?
A Direction under Article 4 of the General Permitted Development Order enables the Secretary of State or the local planning authority to withdraw specified permitted development rights across a defined area.
Test Valley Borough Council has made nine Article 4 Directions since 1972:
- Land at Staddlestone farm, Chalkcroft Lane, Penton Mewsey, Andover
- Land at The Middleway, Andover Down, Andover
- Land adj Cottage Road, Middle Wallop, Andover
- Land at Wellow Drove, Wellow
- Land at Blackwater Bridge, off A31, Nr Ower, Romsey
- Land at Allens Copse, Shootash, Nr Romsey
- Land at Stockbridge Road/New Road, Timsbury
- Land at Newtown Road, Awbridge
- Land at Upper Clatford, Andover (1)
- Land at Upper Clatford, Andover (2)
- Land at King Lane, Over Wallop
There are also five Article 4 Directions made prior to 1972:
- Land at New Street and Watery Lane, Andover
- Land part of Linkenholt Estate, Andover
- Land at Rooksbury Mill, Andover
- Land north and south of Castle Lane, North Baddesley
- Land at Butlers Wood, Newtown, Nr Lockerley
